Dear Neighborhs,
I hope you’ve had a great start to your New Year! As a Crestwood resident, I’d like to be your neighborhood resource when it comes to real estate and I’d like to begin that role by providing periodic newsletters to the community with updates on the local real estate market as well as useful tips related to home maintenance and improvements that will bring a higher resale value when it comes time to sell your home.
My partner and I recently moved to Crestwood from the U Street Corridor. We’ve always admired the neighborhood and are now thrilled to call it home. We purchased a beautiful 1920s Colonial on the 1600 block of Upshur Street that we fell in love with upon our first visit. We bought our home from the Stevens family (many of you may have known the former owners and longtime residents Warren & Eudell Stevens). Since we closed on the home, we’ve had the opportunity to refinish the hardwood floors and paint throughout. We’ve completed one bathroom renovation and two more are underway. We plan to install central air in the coming months and renovate the kitchen this summer. We love exchanging ideas and tips with neighbors so if you’d like to see our finished product or share yours, please drop us a line.
While my partner and I do not have children, we do have a large extended family, which contributed significantly to our decision to move to Crestwood. We have six nieces and nephews with two more on the way. We love to entertain our family and our friends, which we can now do comfortably do in our new home.
As a third generation Real Estate Broker, selling real estate came somewhat naturally to me. I’ve been a licensed Realtor for 10 years now and thoroughly enjoy the industry. When I decided real estate would be a life-long career, I earned my Broker’s licensed and opened a boutique real estate brokerage firm in 2004, calling it Urban Brokers, LLC. We’ve since grown to 12 full-time agents. In 2010, we moved into our new office space along the U Street Corridor upon completing a 14-month renovation project of a row home built in 1900.
My partner Justin Dean is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments downtown at 17th & M. He’ll be contributing articles with each edition related to finance and retirement planning. Outside of work, he’s an accomplished pianist. He plays for a wonderful Church in Virginia and also accompanies a male ensemble group called Brethren.
When we’re not working, we really enjoy travelling internationally; we plan to share some of those experiences with you through this newsletter. I hope this background gives you a little insight into our lives. Thanks to all who have made us feel so welcome in Crestwood; if we haven’t met you yet, we look forward to meeting you soon.
